A MOUNTAIN HOLIDAY: A CLASSIC CHRISTMAS MELODRAMA AND OLIO
Mountain Rep Theatre will be auditioning community actors to perform alongside professional actors in the all-new classic melodrama,
A MOUNTAIN HOLIDAY with a brand-new original olio!!!
A MOUNTAIN HOLIDAY will run November 23-December 24 and rehearsals will start November 10.
Auditions will take place at the Butte Theater in Cripple Creek, Colorado,
139 East Bennett Avenue.
Kids (16 and under): Please arrive at 5pm for auditions! No need to prepare anything. You will be taught a short song and dance combination and may possibly be asked to read. We can’t wait to see you there!
Adults (17 and older): Open auditions from 6-8pm. No need to prepare anything specific. You will be asked to read a provided side from the script and you may be asked to learn a short song and dance combination. You may come at any time during the two-hour period.
A Mountain Holiday: A Classic Christmas Melodrama and Olio is an all-new original script based on local boy gone-good, Jack Dempsey, and his historic first fight right here in Teller County! Mountain Rep Theatre is looking to cast a variety of actors to portray the following:
Rutledge: Dempsey’s Main Opponent, a beast of a boxer!
Young Man: our negotiator between the two boxing opponents and the emcee of the fight.
Dabman: The scrooge of Teller County. A very rich and greedy man who ignores his daughter’s pleas for emotional connection in order to bolster his bank accounts.
A crew of local businessmen and miners.
Nellie: Alice and Bernie Dempsey’s daughter, leading role, has 2 songs. 6-12 years old.
Will: Alice and Bernie Dempsey’s son, leading role, has 1 song, 6-12 years old.
Beatrice: (supporting role, 15 lines): Lily Dabman’s best friend and a fun, sensible yet flirtatious girl.
Merrimack: Rutledge’s promoter and a real slick guy.
The ever kind of determined ladies of Cripple Creek and Victor: supporting the Dempseys and the greater cause of the school.
The rambunctious and charming crew of children that make of the children’s school concert.
Will also appear in the olio!!!!
Much care will be taken to maximize rehearsal time and effectiveness and to work with employment schedules. All of us at MRT are thrilled to start this show with our fantastic community!

Seeking an experienced MD. Requirements: Comfortable with Melodrama Underscoring, Leading Pre-Show Sing Alongs, Prepping and Polishing Vocals, Being a Visible and Integral Part of Our Shows. Prefer: Tracking experience.
